In short
Some of the businesses I build for use an automated assistant to answer calls, texts or enquiries. It always says it's automated, tells you before a call is recorded, hands you to a person when you ask, and stops contacting you the moment you say so — reply STOP to any text or say "don't call me" on a call.
Who this is for
Göedelworks builds call, text and enquiry workflows for other businesses — for example, an assistant that answers an appointment line after hours, or booking reminders sent by text. If one of those businesses called or texted you, or you reached one of their automated assistants, this page explains what to expect. The business you contacted is responsible for its messages and decides what happens to your information; I run the system for them as their processor (see the privacy notice).
The assistant identifies itself
Every automated assistant I build says at the start that it’s an automated assistant, and which business it is answering for. It never pretends to be a person.
Calls may be recorded — with notice first
Florida requires the consent of everyone on a call before it is recorded. If a call may be recorded or transcribed, you hear a notice before anything is captured. If you don’t want it recorded, say so: recording stops, and a person calls you back or the conversation moves to text. Recordings and transcripts are access-controlled and kept only as long as the business’s agreement allows.
Reaching a person
Ask for a person at any point — “talk to someone”, “agent”, “human” — and the assistant takes your details for a callback or transfers you during business hours. You can also contact the business directly by its usual phone number or email.
Opting out
- Texts: reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) and you’ll get one confirmation and no further texts. Reply HELP for the business’s name and contact number.
- Calls: say “don’t call me” or “take me off your list”, and the number goes on that business’s do-not-contact list straight away.
- Opting out never affects anything you’ve bought, and consent to automated calls or texts is never a condition of buying anything.
Quiet hours and limits
Automated calls and texts that the person didn’t start go out only between 8 am and 8 pm in your local time, at most three attempts in any 24 hours about the same matter, and never to a number on the National or Florida Do Not Call lists unless you contacted the business first. Replies to a message you just sent may come at any time.
Questions or a complaint
Contact the business that called or texted you first. If you can’t reach them, or the system misbehaved, email ethan@goedelworks.com with the number involved and roughly when, and I’ll make sure it’s fixed and your opt-out is honoured.
